Important Info:
• Thanks to everyone who has sent in classroom supplies! We really appreciate all that you do for our classroom!
• The Oconee County Emergency Services is sponsoring the annual Tornado Safety Poster Contest. The contest is open to all students in grades one through six in any Oconee County school. Entries should be submitted on standard poster paper (22” x 28”). The student’s name, grade level and school name should be clearly printed in ink on the back of the poster for easy identification. Only one entry per student. Entries should be submitted to the Office of Emergency Services no later than February 6, 2009.
• Kindergarten Registration will be held on March 2 – 6, 2009. Please bring the following items: Birth Certificate, Social Security Card, Updated Immunization Record and Proof of Residency. You do not need an appointment for Kindergarten Registration. More detailed information will be sent home as we get closer to this date.
Pre Kindergarten Registration and Screening will be held on March 3, 2009. Please call the school for an appointment on this date. You will need to bring the following items: Birth Certificate, Social Security Card, Updated Immunization Record, Proof of Residency, and Proof of Income. More detailed information will be sent home as we get closer to this date.
• Family Movie Night: We are planning to have a Family Movie Night on Friday, February 27. There will be a survey coming out about the movie selection soon.
• Map testing begins this week. We will be testing in Reading on Friday.

Units of Study:
Language Arts: Singular and Plural Pronouns, Prefixes and Suffixes, Story Sequence, Writing a Summary
Math: We will be finishing up our Multiplication Unit this week. We will begin our Geometry Unit next weeek. We will be focusing on different types of lines, line segments and rays, triangles, and angles.
Science/Social Studies: Explorers and the Early Settlement of South Carolina
