Field Trip to Columbia

On Tuesday, April 7th, the 3rd graders at Westminster Elementary took our annual field trip to Columbia. Our first stop was the State Museum where we saw some things that we have been learning about in SC history this year. Some of the students favorites are the replica of the H.L. Hunley, the model of Fort Moultrie, and who can forget the gift shop! Our next stop was at Finlay Park for lunch. It was a bit chilly and there were a few sprinkles, but the park was a beautiful place for lunch. Our final stop was at the State House. The flowers at the State House were in full bloom and absolutely beautiful. I always enjoy our visit to the Capitol building. There is a lot of history there. The kids enjoyed finding the bronze stars and counting the stairs. I think if you asked the students their favorite part, however, they would say, the bus ride. We rode in style in charter buses, complete with TVs to watch movies, and a bathroom! We had a wonderful day, full of history, and learning. Here are some pictures from our day!
